You wake up one morning and discover red itchy spots all over your body. You have 2 problems at this point… What exactly bit you and how do you get rid of it? Odds are you have bed bugs…. but how do you get rid of bed bugs permanently?

Do you have Bedbugs?

Unless you actually see the little critters on your skin or in your bed, you might not know if you have bedbugs or something else.  Sometimes, you may only have 1 or 2 spots and bedbugs do not immediately come to mind. For instance, I am always getting mosquito bites and those can easily be mistaken for bedbug bites.

If you have a ton of spots that are clustered and extremely itchy, you probably have bedbugs. But to make sure, you need to try to catch the bugs in a glue trap or interceptor. You could also try to see them in your bed by using white bedding and looking either at dusk or at dawn when they are usually active.

You have bedbugs…. how do you get rid of them?

Finding out that you have bedbugs in your house can be one of the most frustrating things ever. But what comes next? How do you get rid of bed bugs permanently from your home?

There are many different strategies and depending on how severe the infestation is, you could end up spending a lot of money getting rid of the blood suckers.  Before you immediately call an overpriced extermination service that often times don’t work, consider using products you can buy online.

Two years ago, when I had an outbreak of bedbugs thanks to a mattress I was given by my neighbors who were moving… I used a powerful bedbug spray in combination with traps and diatomaceous earth powder.  It took several months to completely rid my house of the infestation because some of the bugs will become dormant for awhile and you have to retreat in order to catch them when they become active again. But eventually I was free from the bedbug ordeal and living life again. Using these products consistently was the key!
